2014 is going to be a year of growth for Chainbreaker. Last year, we held a training for new mechanics for the Bicycle Resource Center. That has grown into a full-blown program!
On March 2nd, we’ll officially launch the BRC University, a 10 week long training course designed by existing BRC leaders for developing new BRC leaders. The course will cover all aspects of bicycle mechanics. More importantly, we will go into depth about the underlying social, economic and environmental justice issues that drive the work of the organization.
This program is like a class. Participants will be asked to commit to attend all 10 training sessions and pass a test before receiving certification to act as BRC crew mechanics. There is no fee for participation, but graduates of the BRC University will be required to serve as crew members for 15 sessions upon completing the course.
Space will be limited to 12 participants. If you would like to apply, please send us a brief letter of intent answering the following questions:
- How did you hear about Chainbreaker?
- What is your experience with bicycles?
- What is your commitment to Santa Fe and the mission of the Chainbreaker Collective?
Please keep letters as brief as possible. Letters will be accepted in any format. Please contact us with any questions.
